Around 830 country chickens belonging to farmers Prakash and Arjun died suddenly in Ramagondanahalli village of Davanagere taluk. The farmers said there had been no known illness among the birds and no major change in the feed before hundreds were found dead. Veterinary officials visited the site, inspected the poultry and collected samples to determine the exact cause of the deaths. Farmers have expressed suspicion of possible foul play, although this has not been established, and the affected families have sought compensation for their losses.
