BJP Raitha Morcha organised a bandh in Davanagere protesting the release of water from the Bhadra reservoir to other districts and the Karnataka government’s ban on gutka and pan masala. Former minister M.P. Renukacharya led demonstrations at several locations in the city, with protesters burning tyres at major junctions. The protesters argued that local farmers were already facing water shortages and that arecanut growers were suffering from falling prices. The bandh affected businesses, educational institutions and public transport in parts of Davanagere.
