Around 830 country chickens belonging to farmers in Ramagondanahalli village of Davanagere taluk died suddenly in a single day, causing a major financial loss to the affected families. The farmers said the birds had not shown signs of illness and there had been no reported change in their feed before the deaths. Veterinary officials visited the farms, inspected the dead birds and collected samples for laboratory examination to establish the exact cause. The affected farmers have sought assistance and compensation while awaiting the investigation results.

Doctors at SS Narayana Health Superspeciality Centre in Davanagere successfully performed a complex six-hour surgery on a 56-year-old woman suffering from a rare liver tumour. The medical team carefully removed the tumour through a major surgical procedure. Following treatment, the patient reportedly recovered well and was discharged in stable condition, marking an important medical achievement for the hospital.

Police arrested three men in connection with a mangalsutra-snatching incident reported in Hirevuda village of Channagiri taluk. The accused allegedly distracted a woman and her husband by warning that her sari might get caught in their motorcycle wheel and then snatched her 45-gram gold mangalsutra. Police later recovered the stolen jewellery and continued their investigation into the incident.

BJP leaders and arecanut growers intensified protests against the Karnataka government’s gutka ban and called for a Davanagere district bandh on August 31. Former minister M.P.
