Jagaluru Congress MLA B. Devarajappa expressed strong dissatisfaction after Jagaluru taluk was excluded from the government’s drought-hit list even though four other taluks in Davanagere district were included. He argued that Jagaluru faces serious water problems because it lacks a major river or irrigation source. The MLA announced that he would boycott district-level meetings until the taluk received fair treatment and said he was prepared to resign if the issue remained unresolved. He also said senior officials had assured him that Jagaluru could be considered for inclusion in a second drought-hit list.
